Worst day EVER

Oh. My. Good. Grief.  What a terrible day.  Okay, so not terrible, per say.  At least I’m not in horrible spirits like I was yesterday.  I’m in good spirits.  It’s a beautiful day outside.  I am just running around like a chicken with its head cut off here at work.  I had this MASSIVE plan revision to do before it released today.  Actually, I had TWO, but this first one was taking so long I had to get a co-worker to do my other one!  Thank goodness she had to time to do it!  Or I would be in a MAJOR pickle.  And I even started on it YESTERDAY.  Ugh.  So I got everything done for the release, but I’m not actually finished with all the revisions yet…none of the others affect today’s release so I left them for last.  I still need to get them done today, but I had to take a break.  I’ve been working on this thing non-stop since I got here early this morning.  My brain is so tired!

To make matters worse, in the midst of getting all my revisions uploaded, my Outlook just starts spontaneously sucking all my email to a different computer!!  The errors I sent myself?  GONE!  What the heck is going on???  One minute I’m looking at the email I just sent myself…the next, I look back over and TWO MONTHS worth of email has just disappeared!  This cannot be happening TODAY.  I emailed our HelpDesk (High Importance, of course) and have yet to hear back from them.  Errg.  I seriously have the WORST luck with computers.

Two more hours to go…  Guess I will try to make the best of it.

Sleepy sleepy

This really should be my last post this morning.  I do have actual WORK to do!  But it was weighing on my mind so I needed to get it out.

For the like 5th morning in a row, Major has woken us up, too early.  This morning was 5:15am.  I’m all for getting up early, but that’s just too early when I didn’t get to sleep until almost 11pm.  So I let him out then get back in bed.  Though I was unable to actually go back to sleep.  Let me go back…

A couple weeks ago, we went to Florida for a wedding.  On the flight out there, John fell asleep on the plane.  After a while, I noticed he had this weird breathing pattern.  3 deep breaths, then no breaths, 3 deep breaths, then no breaths.  It was like a 10 second cycle.  I told him about it after he woke up.  He just laughed it off.  Well, at the wedding, I mentioned it to my mom (who happens to be a nurse).  She exclaims, “That’s sleep apnea!”  So now I’m a bit concerned.  It could be very dangerous.  I tell John and again he just laughs it off.  To make matters worse, it runs in his family!  My mom is quite concerned because he is way too young to be experiencing sleep apnea.  She says, “It would probably go away if he lost 30lbs.”  John plays it down since it’s never happened before and it was because he was all scrunched up on the plane.  Well, we already have a deal that he has to lose 30lbs. before vacation, so I add to the deal that if he doesn’t, he has to go do a sleep study.

Back to this morning…

I got back in bed and tried to go back to sleep for another 45 minutes.  John grumbles something about the dog, half asleep, then returns to snoring away.  Then he stopped.  And I laid awake straining to hear air flowing through his lungs.  No such luck.  For what seemed like minutes, (but really was only about 7 seconds) he didn’t breathe.  Then a big giant snore, 4 regular breaths, a shallow breath, and then nothing.  So I shove him.  “What are you shoving me for??”  “You’re not breathing!!”  And more snoring.  Now I’m worried.  I had never noticed this non-breathing pattern EVER at home.  For that entire 45 minutes I laid there, right next to him so I could feel him breathe.  Not wanting to fall back asleep, worried that if I did he would stop breathing and not start again.

It didn’t seem like such a big deal when I thought he was just 30lbs overweight…he was starting to lose it.  Well, turns out, he’s now 40lbs overweight!  I knew he was looking a little plumper…I even mentioned it on more than 1 occasion.  He kept insisting he hadn’t gained any weight.  Liar.

What am I to do now?  He knows he’s overweight, he knows he needs to lose weight.  But he doesn’t try!!  I keep on him and keep on him, but it does nothing!  Now, I’m worried to go to sleep for fear he’ll stop breathing right there next to me!  I think I have tried about everything I can think of to get him to lose weight…nagging, incentives, making fun, health reasons.  And none of it has seemed to make an impact on him brain enough to really try.  I even agreed to buying a Bowflex (used, of course) if he’d work on it.  We bought that in February…he has used it once.  ONCE!  He promised it would not be a waste of money.  I just really don’t know what to do anymore.  I want to just give up.  I have wasted so much effort on trying to make him healthier and he just doesn’t care.  But if I give up, who will care if he can’t care about himself??  I’m at such a loss…

Tanning

Okay, so I have a few different things to talk about today, but they’re all different subjects so I had to make all different posts. Just bear with me as I expel the contents of my brain through my fingers.

I started tanning yesterday. I haven’t tanned since last May, before Val’s wedding. At that time I only tanned for a month and it didn’t go too well. First off, I wanted to tan because I had to wear a yellow dress. Now, we all know pale skin and yellow dresses don’t go so hot together, so I needed a tan. Apparently I was tanning kind of sporadically during my month membership, and I don’t think the lotion I got helped at all. What a waste of $100.

Bailey had signed up over at Darque Tan (where I signed up with Malibu Tan) and she was liking it and it was MUCH cheaper. So this year, knowing I needed to tan again before going on vacation and wanting to get a really good tan going before then, I decided I’d go ahead and sign up now over at Darque Tan. They are having a special so I had no sign up fee, only $18.88 per month, and I got 50% of a lotion purchase. Woohoo! Yeah, for only $19 a month, I think this is a small luxury I might continue for a while.

Sitting in an office cubicle all day long and getting home only when the sun is about to set, I rarely see the light of day. If I didn’t take a calcium supplement with Vitamin D, I’m sure I would have a Vitamin D deficiency. I will quite enjoy the few minutes in the bed, alone, relaxing, soaking up the Vitamin D. J

I know of one.

I have chosen one of the weekly posts I am going to start doing. I will start doing a weekly progress report on my staying on track with my point counting and exercising. Not that anybody is holding me accountable for my progress, but maybe if I know I’ll have to spill everything about what I’ve done in the past week it will be better motivation to do better! I’ve been struggling with a pesky few pounds for years, but in the past year it’s crept up to a pesky 10lbs. Not that I am at all overweight, or fat, I know that, but I’m just not happy with where I am and I have yet to be diligent enough to do something really productive about it. But since starting our workout class this semester and starting to see actual results, I have new motivation. (Like a Caribbean vacation isn’t motivation enough!) I know I can get down to where I want to be, it’s just a matter of making it happen and sticking to the plan until I am happy. I don’t know, however, on which day I will report my progress. I’ll probably end up doing Fridays…that will be a good break from work on a Friday afternoon. J Then I don’t have to worry about if I’m too busy on a weekend to post…and I can’t post Monday since it’s the start of the week. Okie dokie…Fridays it is. Stay tuned for this week’s report tomorrow, then!

Can I do Body Problem of the Week??

Because this week would most definitely be ECZEMA!  I don’t know what the deal is with this stupid eczema on my face recently.  Okay, back up.  I had never ever had eczema until my freshman year of college when I got it on my arms.  Then it went away for a few years only to creep back on about 2 years ago.  Since then I’ve been seeing my dermatologist at least once a year for it.  I had some steroid cream that cleared it right up.  Then I tried out this new Cetaphil Daily Advance Ultra Hydrating Lotion which has worked WONDERS so I haven’t had to use my steroid cream on my arms in months.  However, it seems that as soon as it disappeared off my arms, it just moved to my face!  Yeah, real sexy with these blotchy, flaky, patches of skin.  Errg.  Well, the dermatologist said I could use the steroid cream on my face, but only sparingly since that’s not what it’s really supposed to be for.  So every so often, I’ll use it for a few days on the couple areas that need it until it goes away.  I’ve tried the Cetaphil on my face, but it’s really too thick a lotion for the face.  Makes my pores feel all clogged up and being acne prone, they definitely can’t stand that.  But for the most part I’ve kept it pretty at bay.  Until this week.  It has gotten out of control!  And I’ve been using the cream for a couple days now and it doesn’t seem to be helping as much as I would like it to.  Errgg…again.  I’m guessing it’s from the new makeup I bought last weekend.  It’s the Dream Liquid Makeup…by Maybelline, maybe, I don’t remember…whoever makes the Dream Matte Mousse.  I really like the makeup…for being liquid it works well with my large pores and oily skin.  But sadly, I think it is irritating the eczema.  I bought the new makeup because I was almost out of my Bare Minerals, but didn’t really feel like spending $30 to buy some more.  Guess I’ll have to now.  Even though my skin feels more oily with that makeup.  Maybe I could try a different (less expensive) mineral makeup.  Any recommendations??  Does this warrant ANOTHER trip to the dermatologist (would be the 4th time since October) just to find out what makeup I can or can’t use??  Maybe I’ll try to remember to google eczema and makeup when I get home…

Weekly post

I would like to start some kind of weekly standard post.  Something like, Recipe of the Week, or Pet Foto Friday, or a Product of the Month.  I don’t know what to do though.  But I would like to start something along those lines so that I don’t get so caught up in such random posting.  I’d like to try to start working on some typical post that you readers out there (all 2 of you J) get used to seeing on a regular basis.  So, any suggestions??

Free lunch!

Ahh…one of the perks of working for a fairly small-ish private company…free lunch!  Well, to be honest we get free lunch every day since they provide a stocked kitchen, but it’s not every day that they have Olive Garden cater!  Today was one of our exec’s 30 year anniversary and tomorrow is another 25th, so they invited the whole general office for free lunch by Olive Garden.  Mmmm…all my favorites…salad, fettuccini, lasagna, and breadsticks.  And a big cake for dessert!

As a testament to the kinds of people I work with and the type of company we are…the exec’s being honored waited in line just like everyone else.  Even Mr. Perry himself showed up and had cake.  J

It’s been a good day.  Now to get back to focus on work.  I’m so close to finishing my base tracker!!
