First, some deliciousness!

Since it's been almost a MONTH since I last posted, I figured I should stop in and say hello!

"Hello!"

I had the idea for this post for quite some time now. Even took the pictures so I could post it. And then never did. Oopsie.

But I am here now and you will finally get to hear about the most delicious breakfast/snack that you've ever eaten in your life!! (Okay, maybe not, but it's still quite fabulous.) Let me start by saying that through the first few months of this pregnancy, the thought of eating yogurt completely turned my stomach. As much as it's a great snack for us preggos, I couldn't stand it. Even though normally I like yogurt. Well, anywho, the only times when yogurt sounded good was when I was thinking of a yogurt parfait. You know, the kind you can get at McDonald's or Chick-fil-A. But I was trying to be good and stay away from fast food so I never got one. Well, then about a month ago, the craving for a yogurt parfait was just about unbearable. I HAD to have one. I was on my way to the grocery store at the time, so I decided I'd see if they sold pre-made parfaits.

They didn't.

I was just about to check out, completely devastated about not getting a yogurt parfait, when I had an epiphany. "Duh! Why can't I just make my own??" And so off I ran I casually strolled away to find yogurt, fruit, and granola. The next morning, I whipped one together and swore I had never eaten anything so magnificent! And being so gracious as I am, I decided to share with the rest of you. [Instead of hoarding away all the yogurt, fruit and granola for my own enjoyment.]

Here are my ingredients:

I shop at Kroger, can you tell?

The first couple times I made it was in a coffee mug, so I filled it about half full of yogurt, then spooned a few spoonfuls of the berries with a little of the syrup over the yogurt. Next came a couple more spoonfuls of yogurt to cover the berries, and topped it off with some nice granola. Mmm. Heaven.

Then I decided that I'd like it as a snack at work, so I made in a little 1 or 2cup size tupperware. Which made a pretty picture all put together. See?

There you have it my friends. One de-lisho snack! I hope you try it out and I really hope you enjoy just as much as I do!!

Alright, so since I have no more books to read, I actually got some things done this evening! Some of which included scanning in my ultrasound pictures...so here's a couple of them:

I really did it!

Eeeeee!!

Sorry, had to get that out seeing as I'm super excited! After about 2 hours of work, I just finished a Christmas necklace and earring set for myself! It turned out even better than I was imagining it!

I wanted to make something to wear to our work Christmas luncheon on Friday, but since I finished tonight, I do believe I'll wear it to bunco tomorrow too!

This is the first thing I've ever made using chain like this. (one of the reasons it took so long) What do y'all think of my first attempt??

Sorry, those are the best pics I could take with my phone...but decent, right??

Oh. My. God.

Yes, I know I said I was going on hiatus, but this is one of those *have* to share with you guys.

So today is my birthday. Well, at work, they always decorate for birthdays. I guess I should also mention a co-worker is also a HUGE Twilight fan. Thus, my cube...

Love them... :o)

Monday Mantra

This week...is going to be super crazy busy!

I believe...I won't be reading many blogs this week. :o(

I'm addicted...to saltines and peanut butter. It's like the perfect snack!

I wish...it wouldn't take 3 months before new guy (starts Monday) can help lighten our CRAZY workload.

I'm jealous...of everyone who actually likes their job.

Soundtrack/Mantra for the week...Happy Birthday to Ward!!

Sorry...it's the only picture of him on my phone!

So pushy

How Major lets you know he wants some attention:

I know it's a little hard to see, but that's him setting his head on my laptop...while I'm in the middle of typing! Sheesh...

Oh Major...

I think Major forgets sometimes that he's actually a dog and not a person. Like when he's sitting on the steps...

Mushrooms

Remember my comment about my yard covered in mushrooms on today's Monday Mantra? Yeah, I was totally NOT exaggerating.

I know it's hard to see in the picture, but every single little white dot is a mushroom!

These special guys are taking over our backyard! How can we get rid if them??

My Power Shoes

My what? My Power Shoes! You know how some men have their "power suits" or a "power tie". That one article of clothing that when you wear it, it makes you feel invincible. Like you can do anything! I have two pairs of shoes that are my "power shoes". Every time I wear them, I feel beautiful, successful, and powerful. I wore one pair yesterday and the other pair today. Along with two of my new shirts, too! So I definitely felt beautiful and powerful, but it still didn't help make me productive! Oops. I'm just in such a funk at work these days, I don't know if anything will give me that motivation! Either way, I still love my power shoes and love the way they make me feel. So here are my power shoes:
Do you have any "power" clothes??

Sweet Corn Festival

Both of my parents are from Iowa. They moved to Texas in 1976 when my dad got a job down here so my entire life has been filled with trips back to Iowa. I believe my first trip up there I was 2 weeks old!

Anywho...in the town where my parents lived and my grandma still does, they have a Sweet Corn Festival every August. When we (my sister and I) were young, I think we came up to the Sweet Corn Fest every single year. It was awesome! Now, the town is like population 1000. It's tiny. We can walk from my grandma's house to town square (where they hold the festivities) in about 10 minutes, if that. It's a gorgeous, peaceful, sleepy little town and I love it!

But since the festival is held about mid-August, once my sister started high school (and therefore summer band about August 1st) we could no longer make it to the Sweet Corn Fest. I was about 11 years old the last time we were there.

For years now, I've been talking about wanting to go back for the Sweet Corn Festival. I mean, heck, John and I have been together for 9 years and he's never been! Well, this was the year we were FINALLY able to make it. And I am so glad that we did. My grandma's pushing 86 and has lots of health issues so it's quite possible this was her last festival. But tons of the family came in for it this year, and I think we made it really special for her.

We had an absolutely wonderful time. I even got John almost convinced to move to Iowa! Haha! I didn't take a TON of pictures, but I'll share a few here that I did take. Just another brief synopsis of our little trip to the Midwest. :o)

I had to take a picture of our SWEET rental we got. I'm definitely glad that John convinced me to upgrade. It was AWESOME!

Us, at the infamous Shuckfest. We helped shuck 17 TONS of corn that evening. How long did it take? About half an hour. Crazy, huh?? And yes, that is a corn necklace I'm wearing!

That Friday we went out on the Mississippi with some cousins and their friends for their annual Empty Koozie Day. 8 hours on the river. It was TONS of fun! As you can see we didn't make it back to the marina until almost sunset. So peaceful out there...

I thought this turned out to be a great picture of us. That's my super cute pearl snap shirt I got at Marshall's right before we left. Perfect outfit for a small town festival...I was just missing the cowboy boots! :o)

Every year at the Sweet Corn Festival my family has our annual "Axe Throwing Contest". Yes, you heard that right. Axe throwing. John was quite excited to compete in his first contest. In our family, we take our axe throwing quite seriously. :o)
