Oh. My. God.

Yes, I know I said I was going on hiatus, but this is one of those *have* to share with you guys.

So today is my birthday. Well, at work, they always decorate for birthdays. I guess I should also mention a co-worker is also a HUGE Twilight fan. Thus, my cube...

Love them... :o)

Happy happy joy joy!

I’m not sure exactly why, but I am in just a terrific mood this morning! So of course, I just had to share with you guys! Aren’t I the sweetest? Really, there could be numerous reasons for my gleefulness this morning…

It might be because I am so proud of my doggies. Yesterday, it was (supposed to be) raining and storming all day long. I really didn’t want to have to put the dogs outside in that kind of weather. They would be miserable and covered in mud when I got home! So, for the first time ever, I left them inside. OUT of their crates (which we’ve broken down and stored away). For the ENTIRE day. Now, I did contain them to the upstairs hallway, like we do at night, but still. I was very nervous to what I would come home to. Well, I got home, let them outside then went up to survey the damage. Or rather, LACK THERE OF!! No damage at all! They didn’t try to eat their pillows. They didn’t chew on the furniture. They didn’t even pee on the carpet!! Oh, I was but ecstatic! I even gave Major a hug. (He’s a good hug giver) And while they were cooped up all day and all night yesterday, they were still perfect little angels this morning as I got ready for work. I love my dogs. They’re the greatest!

You know, my good mood most certainly could be from the fact that I went to Bunco last night, at my mom’s house, with my best friend. It’s actually been a while since my best friend, B, and I have had some just us time. And it was great. She got me all up to speed on her pregnancy. Her new pictures. Her new due date. Her eating rules. What they’ve started picking out for baby. It’s all just so exciting! While I didn’t win anything at bunco, (though B did!) it was a great relaxing night with a fun group of ladies. And I definitely need that every once in a while.

Really, it could just be the weather that makes me so giddy. We had a cool front come through yesterday and I woke up to 52 degrees this morning! BRRRRR!!! The sky is crystal clear blue today with the most perfect cool breeze. I even wore a long sleeve shirt to work! I L-O-V-E this weather. That alone can put the hugest smile on my face! Though it would be even more perfect if I, you know, didn’t have to work. But hey, we take what we can get, right?

Also, I finally started rereading Twilight (again)!! Though I'm only two chapters into it so far, just the fact that I'm reading it again makes me smile.

Now, my last reason, is, well, a little controversial. I’ve been debating whether to post it. But I figured y’all would have the best advice, so here goes. I’m actually in a good mood partly because my husband is out of the country. Now, please don’t take this the wrong way. Let me explain. I love my husband dearly and I am sad when he’s away, but he’s been sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo super stressed lately and he’s bringing all this bad stressful energy home. I’ve been trying very very hard lately to simplify and declutter and relax my life. I stress out too easily. Even though he’s got about 1000 times more stress than I do, he’s not trying very hard to rectify the situation. And really, his stress and bad energy just ends up bringing me down with him. I try my hardest to get him to see the light and make changes, but he just doesn’t. And so, while he’s away, I feel so much…lighter. Like I can breathe again. It really does break my heart to see him like this. Who knows what I can do to help him out?? I want to be able to have these wonderful, carefree, happy feelings when he’s at home!! I want us to be happy and carefree and relaxed TOGETHER! Help a girl out??

Okay, okay…I really do need to get some work done today! I truly hope that all of you are having a super wonderful fantastic Friday!

I love to read.

For anyone who doesn’t know, I love to read. One of the biggest draws for me to start blogging was realizing there was this whole blogosphere of people out there with their own stories for me to read. I mean, not only could I write my own story, but I had all kinds of new stories to discover as well. And I thank you all for having great stories to share.

I’m also thankful that I’ve had the opportunity to read more as of late. And really, my love for reading was reignited once I was finally convinced to read the Twilight series. Now, believe me, if you have not read these books, do it. Seriously. Even if you don’t like to read, these books will make you love reading. They are that good.

Well, I think that everyone has noticed, since the success of Twilight, all the vampire themed books/shows/movies out there right now. One of which is the new series The Vampire Diaries on the CW network. I don’t watch much CW so I didn’t really hear much about this show. But the premier was on the other night when John was working late, and I was a little intrigued. If you don’t know about the show, it’s an adaptation of the book series by the same name which was published back in the early 1990s. And from my understanding, it has a lot of the same premise of Twilight. Set in high school. Vampire boy, human girl. Vampire boy doesn’t drink human blood, etc. People started talking about it being a ripoff of Twilight. Well, the books were published way before Twilight was even an idea. Now, I haven’t read the books, but it does seem like the characters in the show act very similar to the characters from the Twilight movie. (Which is where the “ripoff” might actually come into play here…) Anywho…that got me really interested to know the Vampire Diaries story from the books. Since I don’t want to reread the Twilight series again until November (though I’m totally wanting to right now, especially after the new trailer from New Moon last night!!! But that’s a topic for another post…), I’m in desperate need for some new books to read right now, and hey, what’s better than a super similar story to ease my need for some good Twilight-edness right now? Right? Right?

Now I don’t necessarily want to run out and spend a bunch of money on some new books that I may or may not love enough to purchase. So, that brings me to my second point of this post. I think I’m going to visit my local library and get a library card this week! I’ve lived in my current city for about 2 ½ years now and have not once visited the library. If I ever wanted a new book to read, I’d just go to the bookstore and buy one I thought looked good. But now, in my extra frugal-ness these days, I don’t want to do that anymore. I’ve bought more than a couple books in the past that I don’t ever plan on rereading so why do I need to own them?? I don’t. I would much rather go check out books for free at the library. So then it doesn’t matter if I like the book or not, I just return it to the library, no harm done. When I do check one out that I absolutely love and plan to reread, I can start making a list of those books so I can either go buy them at some point, or maybe try to get them as birthday or Christmas gifts. Sounds like a plan to me.

Since John left for Brazil again last night and won’t be home until this weekend, I think I may make my inaugural trip to the library this week. I checked out the website this morning to get the hours and all that and saw they even have a book club group that meets each month. As long as it’s not a bunch of old blue hair ladies in the group, maybe I can think about joining. (I’d hate to be the youngest person by like 20+ years…that may by a little awkward) But yeah, that may be fun.

What about y’all? Do you visit your local library?

Oh my good grief

Whoa! I just got done catching up on all my unread blog posts on the Google Reader. I ended up just marking a whole lot of the read since I had over 1000 I hadn't read! Stupid work getting in the way of all my blog reading. :o) But I am all caught up now so hopefully I can keep from getting so bombarded again. We'll see. I'm sure you can tell, as of late, I've been a little slack in the post department. Again...work. I used to post while at work, but I've been way overloaded and haven't been. Guess that could be a good thing..maybe my boss was starting to notice which is why I am now being totally micro-managed. Whatever.

So, anywho, just to catch you guys up on me, I totally missed out posting my Menu Plan Monday. We had leftover pizza on Monday, steak and broccoli last night, and tonight I made Taco Soup, which will probably last us the rest of the week. We'll most likely go out Friday since we have some shopping to do and then we've got a dinner and a movie date with friends on Saturday. We're going to see The Hangover. I bet it's going to be super hilarious...from what I've heard.
Our CardioSalsa class started this week and I already know it's going to do wonders! I leave there about dripping sweat. And boy are my hips feeling it!! Have I mentioned? 28 days until Dominican!! Really should brush up on my Spanish!
Not too terribly much going on around here. I've just been seriously slaving away at work and trying to keep up the housework in the evenings along with CardioSalsa now on Mondays and Wednesdays. Oh yeah, I re-read the entire Twilight series again. Yep. It was still awesome the second time around! And you better believe I'll be reading it again before New Moon comes out in November...I can't wait!! In case you missed it the first time around...let me remind you...

OH yeah...

I'm still alive!

Sorry, folks. Seems like I've been on hiatus for a bit. Okay, only two days, but still. I had been writing a few posts a day!

No, this week I have been much busier at work. Well, more like I've been making myself do more work instead of play on blogger and Twitter all day! I actually kind of got in trouble for being behind on some work so I figured I'd better step it up and actually get work done at work so I can continue to have a job to come to!! I guess I didn't get in "trouble", per say, but my boss did call me in to talk about what's "on my plate" lately and he was concerned that I was further behind than other people. He wanted me to make sure to let him know when new projects come up that I will be spending time on so that he knows when he can give me more work and when to give some of my work to less busy people. But of course, in my mind, I was thinking, "No more Twitter/Blog reading marathons at work. Check." So now I'm only giving myself short, sporatic breaks to catch up on one or the other. And since I had to use my lunch break yesterday to run to the bank, I haven't been able to post until today's lunch break!

Really, I've been super behind on reading all my blogs lately. I joined Twitter, like I told you guys, and have been all over that lately! It's much quicker to read 50 new tweets than it is to read 50 new blog posts! And the past two days, Val and I have been totally engrossed in a Twilight Saga discussion of our own. She's on the third book, Eclipse, now and she's as obsessed with it as I was when I was reading it. So much so, that we've been talking about the books, the movies, the movie stars...reading movie news, movie star news, movie pictures, movie star pictures. I know, we are so sad and lame! Here we are, in our mid-twenties, and we can't get enough of it!! It's been really fun though. And with her new enthusiasm, it's making me re-read the series again. I believe I mentioned I re-read Twilight a couple weeks ago. Well, after seeing the New Moon trailer I HAD to start re-reading New Moon again even though I was planning on waiting longer to start over again. Now I'm a little over halfway through and Val's been talking about how good Eclipse has been, so I'll have to start re-reading that one as soon as I finish New Moon. And then you can't finish Eclipse without starting Breaking Dawn. There is just no way. Those two go together way too much! Luckily, I guess, my husband is out of town, starting today, through Sunday at a fishing tournament, so I have 4 days to myself to just read!! :o)

So that's my story of my week thus far. I really want it to be Friday afternoon right now instead of Thursday. It has been a VERY long week for me this week.

Oh, and something else I can thank Val for...this cute new signature I added to my posts. Seriously, where do you find all this cool stuff??

MTV Movie Awards...and movies

I watched the MTV Movie Awards last night. I think that’s the first time in my entire life that I’ve watched them. I had heard that’s where they would be showing the first preview of New Moon, so I just HAD to see that, but also, since I’ve been becoming increasingly engrossed in the Hollywood news as of late, I just wanted to watch to watch.

Let me say, if you missed it, wow, it was H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S!!! So funny.

Also got to preview Transformers 2, which I also cannot wait to see! That comes out June 24!

Mmm...love Shia LaBeouf

Okay, as soon as I heard they were getting a new director for New Moon, plus the fact that Twilight did so well, I KNEW that New Moon would be a MUCH better movie than Twilight. And the measly 1-minute trailer they showed at the awards was more than enough to prove that! OH-MY-GOSH!!!!! It looks AWESOME. Don’t get me wrong, I did love Twilight. I mean, heck, I’ve seen it like 6 times now! BUT, you can tell it’s a low budget movie. No big time special effects or super exciting stuff. New Moon, on the other hand…I think will ROCK! No. Doubt. About. It. I can’t believe I have to wait until NOVEMBER for it to come out. Guess I’ll just have to appease myself by continuing searching for news and gossip about filming/the stars/pictures/trailers. :o)

I’m all about the Hollywood gossip these days. I’m so silly.

Oh oh oh!! Before I forget! Went and saw Star Trek on Friday. That movie was GREAT! I didn’t really want to see it. Actually, I never saw much about it. No commercials, or previews, so I didn’t have much idea what it would be like. But hubby really wanted to see it. So us and some friends went Friday night. I was REALLY glad I decided to go after we watched it. Good enough movie, we’ll be buying it when it comes out on DVD. I did watch the old Star Trek TV shows, so I got some of the funny lines they threw in from the old shows/movies, but even someone who never saw ANY Star Trek loved it as well. Chris Pine (plays Capt. Kirk) is gorgeous! And hilarious! I totally recommend seeing it!!

Whoa.

Okay, so back to the movie awards. Now, (obviously) I am a HUGE fan of Twilight. Loved the books, love the movie, can’t wait for the rest of the movies. All that. BUT I am a bit disappointed they won so many awards. They definitely should NOT have won Best Fight, or Best Actress, or Best Picture. I’d say Dark Knight should have totally won Best Picture. That movie was awesome. John thought Pineapple Express should have won Best Fight. (I did NOT see that movie) I didn’t see many other of the nominees for Best Actress, but I’m sure Kate Winslet in The Reader totally could have won for Best Actress. I love her, even though I haven’t actually seen The Reader.

What I WAS glad they won, was Best Breakout Male Performance and Best Kiss. I definitely thought Rob Pattinson deserved Best Breakout. And the total fake out of them going to reenact the kiss for Best Kiss was priceless!! Loved it!

But really…what do you expect? It’s a fan voted award show. Twilight has a HUGE fan base, and it’s the kind of fan base that WILL vote. I know a ton of people who thought Dark Knight was the greatest movie ever, but they’re not the type of people who’ll go vote for it for an awards show. The fact they won so much only proves that Twilight had the most vocal fans. And that, we all know, was already painfully obvious!
One other side note. Us girls got together and watched Twilight yesterday afternoon since Val finally read the book (and became completely obsessed like we told her she would!!) so she had to see the movie. Well, coincidently, after we watched it, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire happened to be playing on ABC Family, where Rob Pattinson plays Cedric Diggory, one of the players in the wizard tournament. So, double feature of the dreamy RPattz…just to see him AGAIN watching the movie awards. **sigh** :o)

OH. EM. GEE. I think I'm gonna faint...

Since I’ve now written a BOOK over the awards and movies, anybody else watch? Thoughts? Opinions??

Not Me Friday

MckMama hosts a Not Me Monday every Monday. They’re super fun to read. I, however, can never think well enough on Monday’s to ever write my own and link up. I kept thinking last night about all these dumb things I did this week. So instead of waiting until Monday, when I’ll probably forget, I’ll just make my own Not Me Friday today. Enjoy!

First off, I did not start re-reading Twilight, just 2 weeks after I finished the last book in the series, Breaking Dawn. I also did not finish that 500 page book in just 3 days.

And speaking of Twilight, after I did not finish reading Wednesday, I most certainly did not get online to look up new news on the next movie, New Moon. Oh no, never. And I didn’t spend so much time doing that that I had to leave my hair wet to air dry wavy since I was running so late getting ready for work. Did I mention that I didn’t look up this new news first thing in the morning while getting ready for work??

Oh yeah, and I DEFINITELY did NOT do the exact same thing this morning reading Hollywood gossip on the Twilight stars…and joining Twitter. So not much so, that I again have wet, wavy hair, and was almost late to work. Nope, not me.

And I am so not thinking about watching the Twilight movie again tonight. It would not be my 5th time to watch it in one month. I am totally NOT addicted. :o)

You are worth it.

Okay, so I gave in and starting re-reading Twilight on Monday. I just had seen the movie like 4 times now and I kept feeling like there was so much missing. I had to remind myself of all the stuff that was left out of the movie. I’m really glad I did though. I’m finding it’s even better the second time around now that I can take my time reading it since I already know the story. There is so much I completely missed from the story the first time while I was rushing through. And so much more that has been quite thought provoking.

I got to a part this morning that completely caught me off guard. I didn’t remember it all from the first read, but it was so powerful. I’ve been thinking about these lines all morning. It’s the part where Alice and Jasper are about to take Bella to Phoenix to escape James. Everyone has left and Bella and Jasper are alone waiting for Alice to get the car.

Jasper: Sensing Bella’s emotions, says “You’re wrong.”
Bella: “About what?”
Jasper: “You are worth it.”
Bella: Starts going on about how she couldn’t forgive herself if someone got hurt, yada yada yada…not believing she’s worth everyone risking themselves to keep her safe.
Jasper: Simply says, “You are.”

So, if you don’t know the story, Jasper can sense emotions of other people. So he can obviously sense the emotions Edward has for Bella and knows exactly how he feels about her. So when he says she’s worth it to him, he knows that as a fact. To me, that short little conversation between Bella and Jasper was very powerful. I don’t know how to explain it. It just hit me hard.

No matter how self-sacrificing someone may be, there is always someone out there who thinks they’re worth “it”, whatever the “it” may be. This really makes me want to make sure that everyone I feel is worth it, knows that they are.

And I hope that each and every one of you all out there let that someone know they’re worth it, too. :o)

Last night

My plan for yesterday evening didn’t work out quite as well as Tuesday. I did NOT clean up the kitchen after dinner. But we did take the dogs out rollerblading for a little bit. That was fun. It was my first time to rollerblade with the dogs, John’s second. We had bought Cocoa a pinch collar since she pulls so bad on the leash and that helped a LOT. But she loved it since she got to run where as we usually just walk. She loves to run. She did pretty good for the most part except when John would roll past us really fast and she would start running to catch up so she was basically just pulling me down the street. It wouldn’t be as bad if I were, you know, good at rollerblading. We just got them though so we’re both still pretty wobbly. I don’t know how to stop…especially when I’ve got 60lbs pulling me along! Major did really well with John though. He’s usually pretty good on the leash so I wasn’t surprised. I love it how it totally wears them out though. We didn’t go until almost 9pm so they zonked out when we got home and slept great all night. Other than that, I did get in bed about 9:30pm and watch the rest of Twilight. What a great movie to watch before you go to sleep. Such a nice ending.
Speaking of, I think I’m going to start reading the first book again on Monday. I keep thinking about the movie and what all they left out, but I’m starting to forget the rest of the story that wasn’t in the movie, so I want to re-read it and refresh my memory. Plus I’m taking my car BACK to the dealership AGAIN to try to FINALLY get my window fixed so I’ll need something to do while I wait for it. What better than to re-read an awesome book? And I’ll get in a good 2 hours of solid reading time. Nice.

I promise I'll stop.

Okay, okay, I know that I have been obsessively blogging about Twilight for the past week. Well, I’m almost done, I promise. I’ll try to get back to my more random assortment of blogs here soon. I just wanted to put it out there for any of the Twilight readers, if you didn’t already know. The author started a Book #5 to the series, Midnight Sun, to be Edward’s perspective of the first book, Twilight. Well, about halfway through, her draft got leaked to the internet and she has stopped writing the rest of the book. She has though, for diehard Twilight fans, posted herself, a partial draft of it on her website. There’s a little over 250 pages there, I think. I found it, but haven’t read it yet. I’m sure I’ll finish it this weekend though. (I’ve scanned the first page when I found it) It appears to be a promising new perspective and another captivating book. I’ll be glad when she gets around to finishing the whole thing and publishes it.

The End.

The End, indeed. I finally finished the fourth book in the Twilight series. I was so frustrated I only had 10 pages left to read once work started so I had to wait 4 hours until lunch just to read the last 10 pages! Talk about suspension…right? But wow…so worth it. Man, I’ve been reading every possible minute for the past week and a half and now I’m done. What will I do with all my free time now? I guess I could find a new book to get obsessed in, but I’m sure my husband would like it if I took a little reading break for a while. He hasn’t even been home for a week and I’ve been trying to read the whole time. I think he would like to spend some non-reading time with me.

I am VERY happy with this whole series of books and how it all turned out. But yes, I could very easily start re-reading the series over again. I feel like the first time through, I was reading so fast because I just wanted to know what happened next! Like I missed so much by reading so fast. So the next time through, I can read slower and appreciate it that much more.

**sigh** It seems I must come out of my fantasy daydream now and get back to reality…and work. Is it time to go home yet??

So Very Careless...

If you read my last post you will notice that I said that one thing that makes me happy is passion. Now, this is actually a very recent discovery that passion makes me happy. Well, maybe I’ve always been a sucker for the passionate love stories and what not, but it’s at least recently been reignited. I owe this re-ignation to the Twilight series books. Silly, I know, but it’s so very true. Those books are nothing if not passionate. My heart flutters just thinking about it! I was a little skeptical when my friend said that the books did wonders for her and her husband’s sex life. These are young adult books, mind you. They wouldn’t be chock full of romance scenes and such like the romance novels I’ve read before, right? Well, yes, they aren’t. But they don’t have to be! It’s things like this: “Why am I covered in feathers?” “I bit a pillow. Or two.” Wow. See? Passion…enough to have to bite a pillow. **sigh** As I was finding all this out, reading the books, I was very sad that my husband didn’t come home from his business trip until I was well into book #3. But I was sure excited when he got home!! I’ve had passion building up inside me for 2 ½ books already! Let me tell you, that gives all the makings for being very careless. Not that we have to deal with being very careful in the first place (since I’m pretty hormonally challenged 10 out of the 12 months every year), but still. When you’ve got Husband, who’s been out of the country for two weeks straight, and me who’s been reading these emotionally charged books…come on! Who’s going to stop and think about being “careful”?? Which, of course, just fuels the passionate fire. **sigh**

Happy Friday!!

Oh, what a happy Friday it is! I’m in quite good spirits today! Though, what exactly is it that has me in such a good mood today?

Could it be the fact that my dear husband finally comes home tomorrow?? And after reading Type A Mommy’s post this morning, I think I too will make some cookies to welcome him home. He’s always begging for me to make cookies, but I hardly ever oblige since I try my hardest to keep sweets out of the house. But he’s been gone for 2 long weeks and I think he deserves a treat! :o)

Could it be that as of this morning, I have lost 6 pounds in 3 ½ weeks?? I am really starting to notice the difference and it makes me quite ecstatic! I am feeling so much better about myself and it couldn’t come at a better time.

Could it be that I am the biggest nerd alive and can’t stop thinking about my Twilight series books?? I went out and bought books 1 and 2 last night and started reading book 2. Again, got through 250 pages in one night. I’m so intrigued with the story that I keep trying to think up my own scenarios of how it will play out. And then as I read more, it makes me think again and change my predictions. SOOOOO good!

Could it be that I am going to watch the Twilight movie (again) tonight with my best friend?? She’s the one that finally got me to read the books in the first place and wanted to watch the movie with me. Even though I just watched it on Wednesday, I’m so in love with the story I could definitely watch it again with great company. :o)

Could it even be the fact that I’m making good progress on this project at work?? It’s almost like a puzzle I’m working on. We’re reformulating one of our Excel spreadsheets and I get to go in and figure out all the new formulas and how it all works and put the pieces together to get the right answers. I told you I was a nerd.

Or could it possibly be that it’s Pizza Day at work today?? Who wouldn’t get excited about free pizza for lunch?

Well, whatever the reason, or reasons, it’s a happy day today. :o) Happy Friday to you all!!

Thursday, April 23, 2009

It's Thursday!

Yes, this will be a completely random post this morning.

Our chiller at work broke (again) last night. I’m hot. They said they hooked up the one for our other building, but I’m sure not feeling the air yet. Who can work when you’re sweating at your desk??

I had a wonderful dinner over at Tony and Val’s last night. Delicious chicken fried steak, mashed taters, and corn. I definitely think she should have her great hubby post the recipe. *hint hint* :o)

I did watch Twilight last night when I got home. I’m very conflicted on whether I liked it or not. The whole movie seemed a little disconnected to me. But I have already read the book so I know it’s supposed to flow. I did not like the fact that some things did not match up quite right. Lines said in one place in the movie, yet same lines said somewhere completely different in the book. Facts in the movie that did not match facts in the book. They seemed to draw out scenes that could have been much shorter, and cut scenes short that really needed more time. Additional scenes added that were not in the book, that I thought they didn’t need. I mean, if I had my way, the movie would be exactly like the book…but I know that would have made the movie like 4 hours long, I’m sure! Eh, I would watch it. I’m a nerd like that. Really, all the movie did was make just want to re-read the book. :o) That said, I will watch the rest of the movies of the saga as they come out, just like I will read the next three books. Maybe even starting book #2 tonight. I had borrowed the first book, but I’m thinking I might just go out and buy all 4 myself since I already know that I’ll want to re-read them all time and time again so I might as well just own them. I mean, (at least the first book) reading this story made me feel like I was in this fantasy world, but yet it had all the emotion of reality…I don’t know, maybe I just can’t even put it into words to accurately describe what it was like for me. I just know that I loved it and would read it again. Have you guys read the book? Watched the movie? What were your thoughts?

My husband finally comes home in 2 ½ days! I can. not. wait! I really miss him. I miss being able to talk to him for lengths longer than about 5min. once a day. Stupid Africa and bad cell service. :o( I miss having someone to curl up next to when I wake up cold in the middle of the night. And no, the dog doesn’t count! Really, I think the only thing I don’t miss is all the additional laundry! :o)

Hmm…I wish I could think of anything else to write about so that I can put off working for longer. It seriously is 77 degrees at my desk right now. Yes, I have a thermometer at my desk. It’s kind of a running joke here that it’s cold in the winter (I have worn gloves at my desk…) and hot in the summer (I had to buy my own personal desk fan)…inside the building! So I have a magnetic thermometer attached to my desk and it is currently reading 77 miserable degrees. YUCK.

The Twilight phenom

Surely there isn’t a single person out there that has not at least heard of Twilight. A few months ago, I knew it was a movie that had come out, though I had no idea what it was about. I first found out it was a book series from my trainer at the gym. She went and saw the movie before she knew about the books. After she saw the movie she started reading the books and was telling me great they were. Since then I have had a few different friends also tell me how much they love these books and I definitely need to read them. Well, I do love a good story, so one friend had bought the books and loaned me the first one to start reading. I read about 30 pages on Sunday night. I didn’t get real far into it. Then last night, since I wasn’t feeling well, I thought it would be a great night to read some more. Well, let me tell you that “some more” turned into 5 hours later I had read over 250 pages!! What an awesome story!! One of those books you really get into…get completely lost in the story. I didn’t want to put it down. I probably only read until 12:45am because I was waiting for John to call to say he made it to Africa, but I probably could have read all night, it was that good. I had to force myself not to bring it to work today to read during lunch. I knew I wouldn’t be able to stop after just 30 minutes! I’m about halfway through the first book and cannot WAIT to read the rest! One friend, I won’t mention names, said this was a perfect time to start reading the series since John gets back this weekend. I should be to the 2nd or 3rd book by then and apparently books 3 and 4 have done wonders for said friend’s sex life. :o) After what I’ve read so far, I can only imagine how much more intense it can get! SOOOO good! So, if you have wondered about reading this series, do it! I haven’t watched the movie yet, but probably will after I finish this first book. Though I really don’t see how movie actors could even begin to convey the intense emotion and passion that you get from reading the book. It’s a very powerful story. And that’s only after reading just 285 pages.

On completely unrelated news, John called this morning from Angola. They have made it to their hotel safe and sound. He actually has a view of the beach from his room and he said it’s a really nice view. He sent me a postcard from the airport in South Africa when they were passing through there so we’ll see how long it takes to get here. Okay, off to work for me now…much to do!
